| Age | Date | Weekday | Status |

The How Old Am I calculator finds your age by calculating the difference between today's date and your date of birth. Add your time of birth and the answer runs down to the second: years, months and days first, then hours, minutes and seconds that tick up while the page is open.
The calculator gives 4 main benefits: an exact age, a live clock, every time unit in one place and privacy, since the system time on your own device drives the count. People use it to answer “how old am I today?”, check their age in days for a milestone, count down to the next birthday and settle age questions on forms. It has 3 parts: a date-of-birth field, an optional time-of-birth field and a live result panel.

Adjust your time of birth for a different time zone
The clock compares your time of birth with the system time on your device, so both times need to be in the same time zone. To adjust your time, add or subtract the hour difference between your birth location and where you are now.
No change is needed, if you live in the same time zone as your birth location.
How to Find Your Age from Your Date of Birth
To find your age from your date of birth, subtract your birth year from the current year, then subtract 1 more if your birthday has not come yet this year. That gives your age in whole years. For years, months and days, subtract the full dates column by column.

How Birthdays and Leap Years Affect Your Age
Your age in years goes up by 1 on each birthday, and leap years add 1 extra day, February 29, about every 4 years. Birthdays change the years, months and days; leap years change the totals in days, hours, minutes and seconds.
The leap year rule
A year is a leap year when it divides by 4, except century years, which must divide by 400. 2000 was a leap year and 1900 was not.
Leap days in your total
40 years hold 10 leap days. Counting 365 days for every year leaves a 40-year-old 10 days short.
February 29 birthdays
A person born on February 29, 2000 had 6 real birthdays by 2026. AgeCountLab uses February 28 in common years; some countries use March 1 for legal purposes.
Common Mistakes When Calculating Your Age
There are 6 common mistakes when calculating your age, including subtracting only the years, ignoring the time zone of birth and mixing up date formats.
Subtracting only the years
✕ On March 1, 2026: 2026 − 1997 = 29
✓ Age is 28 until the birthday on March 14
Counting 365 days in every year
✕ 40 years × 365 = 14,600 days
✓ 40 years hold 14,610 days, leap days included
Ignoring the time zone of birth
✕ Entering 8:00 am Eastern time while living on Pacific time
✓ Enter 5:00 am, 3 hours earlier
Counting the birth date as day 1
✕ March 14 to March 17 = 4 days
✓ The birth date is day 0, so the answer is 3 days
Mixing up date formats
✕ Reading 03/04/1997 as March 4 on a European form
✓ US mm/dd/yyyy means March 4; Europe dd/mm/yyyy means April 3. ISO 8601 yyyy-mm-dd avoids both.
Treating quiz or photo results as real age
✕ A face scan says 25, so you are 25
✓ Real age comes only from your date of birth
