Your age in years, months and days, with total weeks, days and hours and your next birthday, will appear here.

The age calculator measures the difference between two dates, your date of birth and any date you choose, and returns your exact age in years, months and days. It counts real calendar months and every leap day, then repeats the same span as total months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds, with your next birthday and a few facts about your birth date.

You get your exact age to the day, ready for forms, school records and insurance quotes, and nothing you type leaves your device. Use it for job applications, life insurance, school admissions, retirement planning or family history. Enter a date of birth, pick the date to measure to and press Calculate age.

Months and days come from actual calendar months. A calculator that divides total days by the average month length of 30.42 days (365 ÷ 12) gives a different months-and-days figure around February and the 31-day months. Hours, minutes and seconds assume a birth time of midnight; with today as the target date, the seconds counter keeps running.

How to Calculate Age from Date of Birth

To calculate age from a date of birth by hand, write the later date above the date of birth and subtract one column at a time: days, then months, then years. Borrow when the top number is smaller. Someone born on 15 November 2006 was 19 years, 3 months and 23 days old on 10 March 2026.

Worked example

15 November 2006 to 10 March 2026

1 · Set up
yyyymmdd20260310− 20061115

15 is bigger than 10, so borrow a month.

2 · Borrow days
yyyymmdd202603 0210 38− 20061115

10 + 28 = 38, and 38 − 15 = 23 days.

3 · Borrow months
yyyymmdd2026 202502 1438− 20061115

2 + 12 = 14, and 14 − 11 = 3 months.

4 · Result
19years3months23days

2025 − 2006 = 19 years.

A borrowed month adds the days of the month before the later date: 28 or 29 for February, 30 for April, June, September and November, and 31 for the rest. Press Play below to watch the borrowing with your own dates.

Common Uses of an Age Calculator

An age calculator has 7 common uses, including job applications, life insurance quotes and retirement planning. Each one needs an exact age on a specific date, not just the current year minus the birth year.

📝

Job and exam applications

Recruiters set an age threshold on a fixed date, such as 18 to 30 years on the closing date. Put that date in “Age at date” to check, or use the Govt Job Age Calculator for limits and relaxation.

🛡️

Life insurance quotes

Life insurance companies set the premium by age, and many use your age at your nearest birthday. Once you pass the half-year mark, that age rounds up to your next birthday. The result panel shows it as Age at nearest birthday.

🎒

School admissions

Schools admit children by their age on a cut-off date before term starts. Enter the cut-off date to see the child's exact age in years, months and days.

👶

Baby and child milestones

Parents count a baby's age in weeks and months. The result lists both totals. For a baby born early, the Corrected Age Calculator counts from the due date.

🏦

Retirement planning

Pension and savings rules switch on at exact ages such as 55, 59½, 62 and 66. The table below lists the main ones; enter a future date to see your age on it.

🌳

Genealogical research

Old records give an age instead of a birth date. A person aged 34 on the 1940 US census date, April 1, 1940, was born between April 2, 1905 and April 1, 1906.

⏳

Event countdowns

Put today's date in the date-of-birth field and the event in “Age at date” to get the number of days until any event. The Birthday Countdown does this live for birthdays.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Old Am I Today?

You are as old as the complete years, months and days between your date of birth and today's date. Enter your date of birth in the age calculator above. The “Age at date” field is set to today, so the result shows your current age in years, months and days, with the number of days you have been alive. Someone born on 15 November 2006 was 19 years, 3 months and 23 days old on 10 March 2026.

How Do I Calculate My Exact Age?

To calculate your exact age, subtract your date of birth from today's date one column at a time: days first, then months, then years. Borrow the days of the previous month when the day count is negative, and borrow 12 months when the month count is negative. The age calculator runs the same subtraction with real calendar months, so the answer is exact to the day.

How Do I Calculate Age from My Date of Birth?

To calculate age from your date of birth, subtract your birth year from the current year, then subtract 1 more if your birthday has not come yet this year. That gives your age in whole years. For months and days, enter the date of birth in the age calculator and press Calculate age. The tool accepts any date of birth from January 1, 1900.

How Many Days Have I Been Alive?

You have been alive for the number of calendar days between your date of birth and today, leap days included. A person born on 15 November 2006 had lived 7,055 days on 10 March 2026, or 1,007 weeks and 6 days. The age calculator shows this as Total days, and the Age in Days calculator lists your 10,000th day and other day milestones.

How Many Months Old Am I?

Your age in months equals your completed years times 12, plus the full months since your last birthday. Someone who is 19 years, 3 months and 23 days old is 231 months old (19 × 12 + 3). The age calculator shows this as Total months. Parents use the same figure for babies under 2 years (24 months) old.

How Old Will I Be on a Future Date?

To find your age on a future date, change the “Age at date” field to that date and press Calculate age. A person born on August 15, 1998 will be 31 years, 4 months and 17 days old on January 1, 2030. The same field works for past dates, such as an exam closing date or the date on an old record.

How Many Days Until My Next Birthday?

The number of days until your next birthday appears in the Next birthday box of every age calculation. On 10 March 2026, a person born on November 15 has 250 days to wait. For a live countdown in days, hours, minutes and seconds, use the Birthday Countdown.

Does the Age Calculator Account for Leap Years?

Yes, the age calculator accounts for leap years by counting every February 29 between the two dates. A leap year has 366 days and comes every 4 years, except century years that are not divisible by 400: 2000 was a leap year and 1900 was not. Between 15 November 2006 and 10 March 2026, the calculator adds 5 leap days (2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, 2024). People born on February 29 reach their birthday on February 28 in common years on AgeCountLab; some countries use March 1 for legal purposes.

Why Is My Calculated Age Different on Some Websites?

Calculated age differs between websites for 4 reasons: month length, time zone, end-date counting and leap-day birthdays.

  1. Month length. Some tools divide total days by the average month length of 30.42 days (365 ÷ 12) instead of counting calendar months, so their months and days are off by a day or two.
  2. Time zone. Calculator Soup sets “today” by Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). AgeCountLab uses the date on your device, so the two show different days near midnight.
  3. End date. Time & Date's duration calculator offers an option to include the end date, which adds 1 day to the count.
  4. February 29 birthdays. Each site picks February 28 or March 1 as the birthday in common years.
